Trauma Therapy Online

Trauma can affect the way you feel in your body, relate to others, move through the world, and respond to stress — even long after the difficult experience is over.

You may notice anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shutdown, tension, difficulty trusting, painful memories, irritability, numbness, grief, or a sense that your nervous system is always bracing for something. Sometimes trauma symptoms become more noticeable during major life changes, such as a move, loss, relationship transition, medical event, new parenthood, or relocation to a new country or culture.

You do not have to have a single “big” traumatic event to seek trauma therapy. Many people come to therapy because of cumulative stress, relational wounds, emotional neglect, painful family dynamics, abusive relationships, or experiences that left them feeling alone, unsafe, unseen, or powerless.

How I Approach Trauma Therapy

My approach to trauma therapy is warm, collaborative, and paced carefully. We do not need to rush into painful material before you feel ready.

Together, we may work on building resources, strengthening your sense of internal safety, understanding your nervous system responses, and creating more space between you and the intensity of what you have lived through.

Depending on your needs, our work may integrate EMDR, somatic therapy, parts work, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and polyvagal-informed approaches. This means we may pay attention not only to thoughts and emotions, but also to body sensations, protective patterns, relational dynamics, and the ways your system has learned to survive.

EMDR and Somatic Therapy for Trauma

EMDR can be helpful for some people in processing distressing memories, beliefs, and emotional responses connected to trauma. Somatic therapy can support you in noticing how trauma may live in the body — through tension, shutdown, agitation, pain, numbness, or difficulty feeling grounded.

We will talk together about what approach feels appropriate for you. Some clients are interested in EMDR, some prefer somatic or parts-based work, and others benefit from a more integrative approach. The work is tailored to your pace, your history, and your current capacity.

Moving at Your Pace

It is completely understandable to feel anxious about beginning trauma work. Many people worry that therapy will make them feel flooded or that they will have to talk about everything all at once.

That is not how I work.

We begin by helping you develop tools, resources, and a greater sense of choice. Trauma therapy is not about forcing you to relive the past. It is about helping your mind, body, and nervous system relate to what happened with more support, steadiness, and compassion.

Online Trauma Therapy in Colorado and California

I offer online trauma therapy to adults located in Colorado and California. Sessions are held through secure video, allowing you to do this work from a private space where you feel comfortable.

If you are currently in crisis, feeling unsafe, or needing intensive support, online therapy may not be the right level of care. In that case, emergency, in-person, or higher-level support may be more appropriate.
